Stephanie Carpizo, LMHC
Thank you for visiting my website! Here is a little bit more about me. My training and experience over the years has centered around resolving traumatic experiences using various trauma models including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAET), and Brainspotting. I believe in the transformative healing power of emotion-focused and body-based therapuetic models of healing and the versatility of these models to meet a variety of needs.
I have a special interest in treating chronic pain and use an approach based on Dr. John Sarno’s work which emphasizes tackling negative emotional contributors to physical symptoms and Dr. Howard Schubiner's Mind Body Syndrome (MBS) approach. I also facilitate a therapeutic chronic pain group using these approaches in addition to Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) and Pain Neuroscience Education (PNE).
Currently, I am a PhD candidate at the University of Rochester in Counseling and Human Development and hold an Advanced Certificate in Mind Body Healing and Wellness. I have a clinical and research focus in how emotion-focused therapies can be used to heal various forms of chronic pain.
